Actor Saif Ali Khan was on Tuesday discharged from the Lilavati Hospital, five days after he suffered multiple stab wounds during an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence.

According to hospital sources, papers for Khan's discharge were filed on Monday night and the 54-year-old actor has now been advised bed rest for the next couple of weeks.

Moments after he stepped down from the car at his Bandra residence, Khan—wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, and sporting a compression bandage on his left wrist—greeted his fans and waved to them.

Earlier in the day, Mumbai police took the accused, Shariful Islam Shehzad, to recreate the crime scene at Khan's Satguru Sharan building. The cops have alleged the 30-year-old, who was arrested from Thane on Sunday, is a Bangladeshi National.

According to reports, the accused hid in the building for hours after stabbing Khan, fearing that he would be caught if he ran. The cops are likely to also take him to all the spots he visited before he sneaked into Khan's residence around 2 AM on January 16, with an apparent intent of theft.

The intruder was confronted by a staff member, when he entered the room of Khan's younger son, Jeh. Hearing the commotion, the actor intervened, leading to a scuffle during which Khan suffered six stab injuries, including two deep wounds near the spine.

The actor underwent emergency surgery to address his injuries, which included a knife lodged in his thoracic spinal cord and leakage of spinal fluid.
