A few days after unveiling the title poster of their upcoming film Love Bite, AGS Entertainment has officially kicked off production on the Santhanam-starrer with a pooja ceremony and a special announcement video introducing the cast members.

Directed by Selvin Raj Xavier, Love Bite stars Aparna Das as the female lead opposite Santhanam. The film also features an ensemble cast including VTV Ganesh, Adithya Kathir, Anandaraj, Bjorn Surrao, Rajendran, Muthukumar, Nirosha, Redin Kingsley and Kalki Raja, among others.

The announcement video released by the makers on Tuesday offered glimpses from the pooja ceremony while confirming that the project has now gone on floors. The film marks Selvin Raj Xavier’s second directorial venture after Conjuring Kannappan, the Sathish-led horror comedy that released in 2023.

The first poster of the film hinted at a horror-comedy set against a zombie backdrop. Tombstones surrounding the title and visuals of the undead emerging from graves suggested that Love Bite could explore the zombie genre with a comic twist.

On the technical side, the film has cinematography by Yuva and editing by Pradeep E Ragav. AGS Entertainment’s Archana Kalpathi is attached to the project as creative producer, while the film is backed by producers Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh under the AGS banner.

Meanwhile, Santhanam has a busy slate ahead. The actor-comedian is also expected to join the cast of STR 51, starring Silambarasan and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. Billed as a fantasy romantic comedy, STR 51 was announced last year with a glimpse video featuring Silambarasan as the “God of Love”.

According to Cinema Express, director Ashwath Marimuthu revealed that the film revolves around the idea of sorgam (paradise). “In Dragon, we explored education and the consequences of making mistakes. Similarly, this film will delve into what paradise truly means. But it won’t be preachy,” he said, while also confirming Santhanam’s presence in the project.

The film is slated to begin production after Vetri Maaran completes Arasan. In addition, Santhanam is set to headline an untitled time-loop thriller directed by debutant filmmaker Sudhaman Krishna.
