Shahid Kapoor Confirms 'Farzi' Season 2: 'The Fakers Are Back At It'
Raj & DK’s hit Prime Video crime thriller returns three years after its debut, with Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi set to reprise their roles.
Shahid Kapoor has confirmed that a second season of Farzi is officially in development. The actor shared the update on Tuesday via Instagram Stories, posting a photograph with creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., collectively known as Raj & DK. Alongside the image, he wrote: “The fakers are back at it.”
Shortly after, Raj & DK acknowledged the announcement on their own social media handle, sharing an image of stacked currency notes with the caption: “Round 2 in progress.” The posts mark the first formal confirmation that the Prime Video series, which premiered in 2023, will return for another instalment.
In earlier interviews, Kapoor had indicated that a follow-up season would take time. He noted that after filming wraps, the show undergoes an extended post-production process, including dubbing into multiple languages before its global release. He had suggested that audiences should expect a gap of at least two to three years between seasons.
Farzi marked Kapoor’s long-form streaming debut and was created, directed and produced by Raj & DK. The crime thriller followed Sunny (Kapoor), a small-time con artist who becomes involved in the high-stakes world of counterfeit currency. As he perfects his craft, he draws the attention of a determined task force officer, played by Vijay Sethupathi, who is intent on dismantling the growing fake currency network.
The series combined crime, satire and social commentary, examining themes of ambition, economic disparity and moral compromise. It featured an ensemble cast that included Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra and Amol Palekar in key roles.
Upon release, Farzi became one of Prime Video India’s most-watched originals and was widely discussed for its performances and pacing. The confirmation of season two signals the continuation of Sunny’s story, though further plot details and a production timeline have not yet been announced.
Season two is currently in development.
