'Songs of Paradise' Trailer: Saba Azad, Soni Razdan's Musical Pays Tribute to Kashmir’s First Female Playback Singer

Prime Video has dropped trailer for Songs of Paradise, a musical drama inspired by the life of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, Kashmir’s first female playback singer. Directed by filmmaker Danish Renzu and written by Renzu along with Niranjan Iyengar and Sunayana Kachroo, the film is a tribute to the iconic voice that reshaped the cultural fabric of the valley.

Presented by Excel Entertainment and produced by Apple Tree Pictures Production and Renzu Films Production, the film features a stellar ensemble cast led by Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, with Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Taaruk Raina, Shishir Sharma, and Lillete Dubey in pivotal roles. Songs of Paradise will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on August 29.

The trailer offers a glimpse into the life and times of Noor Begum, portrayed across two generations by Saba Azad and Soni Razdan. The story follows Noor’s journey as a gifted young singer who defies social restrictions to pursue her passion for music, eventually becoming a cultural icon. The film’s soul-stirring soundtrack, composed by Abhay Sopori and brought to life with the vocals of Masrat Un Nissa, elevates the cinematic experience, weaving Kashmir’s rich musical heritage into its narrative.

Speaking about her role, Saba Azad shared, “Getting to play a character inspired by the legendary Raj Begum has been nothing short of a revelation. This film has led me to the incredible story of her life and times and her unending musical repertoire. It’s a story of female resilience and independence, and I can’t wait for the audience to see it on Prime Video.”
