Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the sequel to Dibakar Banerjee’s cult land-theft comedy, has a new release date. Previously scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 28, 2026, on occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the film will now release next year on March 5, 2027.
Lead actor Anupam Kher shared the revised release date on social media, along with a new poster for the film. “And now… WE ARE BACK!” he wrote. “Delighted to share the poster of KHOSLA KA GHOSLA 2, coming to cinemas on 5th March 2027!”
T-Series had previously earmarked March 5 as the release date for Spirit, the upcoming tentpole action film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri. With Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 now occupying the slot, speculation is rife that Spirit may be postponed to a later date. However, no official communication from T-Series regarding a change has arrived.
Released on September 22, 2006, Khosla Ka Ghosla tracked a middle-class Delhi family’s attempts to reclaim its plot of land, stolen by a corrupt property dealer. Directed by Banerjee and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film received modest theatrical response but gained long-term popularity over the years. Its sharp humour, quirky characters and depiction of middle-class anxieties eventually earned it cult status.
Helmed by Priya Mishra and Prashant Maghia, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 brings back original cast members Kher, Ranvir Shorey, Praveen Dabas, Boman Irani and Kiran Juneja. Actor Ravi Kishan is among the new additions to the cast. The new poster features the Khosla family trapped in a fresh crisis, represented by currency notes shaped like dynamite sticks. The conniving Khurana, played by Boman Irani, looms large once again over their lives.
Reflecting on the original film’s legacy, Anupam Kher wrote in his post, “In every actor's life, there are a few films that have the possibility of making both the film and its characters immortal. For me, Khosla Ka Ghosla is one of them. I feel very fortunate to be your Khosla saab—a character you have embraced with so much love.”
He also dropped clues about the sequel’s central conflict, writing, “The Khoslas will meet Khurana again… and the game of chess will begin!“
