Billed as an intense revenge drama, the Devashish Makhija directorial was filmed over 50 days in and around Mumbai and Maharashtra.
Actor Taapsee Pannu has finished filming her upcoming revenge drama Gandhari. Backed by screenwriter Kanika Dhillon's Kathha Productions, the film also stars Ishwak Singh.
Gandhari is directed by Devashish Makhija, known for helming acclaimed titles like Bhonsle (2018) and Joram (2023), both starring Manoj Bajpayee. Featuring Pannu doing "raw action," Gandhari was filmed over 50 days in and around Mumbai and Maharashtra.
"It’s been not just mentally but physically demanding film," Pannu said as she wrapped up the movie in which she plays a mother on a mission.
"We tried to achieve so much against all odds, which wouldn’t have been possible if the entire team was not aligned together and driven enough to complete this film at breakneck speed. We have pushed the envelope a bit with this film. I felt like a newcomer who wanted to give it all in every shot. My job as an actor is over, so now I am waiting with bated breath to see the results of this hard work," Pannu said.
The film is written by Dhillon, who said Gandhari has been both an "enriching and challenging" experience for the team. "It's a heroic story that I am extremely proud of. Taapsee has put her heart and soul into the film, as has the entire team. We can’t wait to bring it to audiences."
Gandhari marks the sixth collaboration between Dhillon and Pannu, which includes films like Manmarziyaan (2018), Haseen Dillruba (2021) and its 2024 sequel Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba.
The film is set to release on Netflix later this year.
