The iconic acting duo reunites for 'Thudarum', a film that mixes humour, nostalgia and a touch of suspense.
Directed by Tharun Moorthy, and starring Mohanlal and Shobana, the upcoming Malayalam movie Thudarum promises to be a blend of nostalgia, humour and suspense. The trailer, which dropped recently, has hinted at the film taking the shape of a thriller-comedy.

The trailer opens with Mohanlal’s Shanmugham indulging in a moment of nostalgia, recounting his school days. He recalls how their stern Mathematics teacher would disrupt free periods with surprise assignments, only for his friend (Maniyanpilla Raju) to counter by commenting on how he hardly attended class. From there, the trailer seamlessly shifts gears, offering glimpses into Shanmugham’s world, particularly the deep, affectionate bond he shares with his wife, played by the ever-graceful Shobana.
The short clip appears to cheekily address real-life speculation surrounding Mohanlal’s bearded look. Over the years, rumours have swirled that the actor refrains from shaving due to an alleged botched Botox procedure. It also highlights Shanmugham’s deep attachment to his prized possession — an old black Ambassador.
“Do you know how many great personalities’ bums have graced (the seats of) my car?” he asks.

However, the lightheartedness gives way to tension as the trailer unfolds, revealing that the cherished car has somehow landed in police custody. What follows is Shanmugham’s relentless pursuit to reclaim it, setting the stage for a gripping narrative. As the promo nears its climax, the tone shifts dramatically, with Mohanlal delivering an intense performance.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, and Irshad Ali in pivotal roles, Thudarum brings together a seasoned technical team. Shaji Kumar’s cinematography promises to capture the film’s essence, while Nishadh Yusuf and Shafeeque VB handle the editing. Complementing the film’s emotional depth is Jakes Bejoy’s music. With anticipation running high, Thudarum is set to hit the big screens soon.
