As the Mumbai Police inquiry into the shooting at Tiger Shroff’s car grows into a probe of an alleged conspiracy tied to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, sources have said that the men behind the attack also surveyed Ranbir Kapoor’s home in Bandra, Mumbai. The claim raises the possibility that more film personalities were being watched.
On Wednesday, the police told a court that Anil Pandit, an associate of the Bishnoi gang, allegedly ordered the attack. Eight people have been arrested so far. Mumbai Crime Branch DCP Raj Tilak Roushan also revealed at a press conference that two others, Jatin and Sameer, are detained in Haryana, and court approval of their transit remand would bring the count to ten.
The three suspects involved in the firing: Rehan alias Sukka, Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan and Phool Singh, were brought from Kota and will be placed in police custody till October 31.
According to a police source, the shooters had initially planned to target Salman Khan and even conducted a recce of his residence once they had entered the city. However, they parted with the plan after spotting police personnel outside his home. This is when they switched targets to Shroff, believing he would be an easier target with smaller security.
Police have also found that the group visited buildings where Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh live during a month in the city. Officers are yet to establish whether these names came from the gang or from curiosity, and security outside some of the homes has been raised.
"We have found they had visited the buildings where several celebrities resided. Actor Aamir Khan resides some distance from Tiger’s residence. So, at this point, we are not sure if they were given specific targets or if they visited these places out of curiosity. Details will emerge during their questioning. As of now, we have heightened security outside the residences of some of these actors,” a source told The Indian Express.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan further revealed that five people, including two women, had been arrested in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and have been brought to Mumbai.
