'Toxic' Trailer: Yash Dons A Dual Role In This Dark, Twisted And Lustful Gangster Drama

The trailer of Toxic is finally here and it’s Yash vs Yash. The Kannada star plays a dual role in this gangster film, as a father and son. After multiple delays in its release, the film's makers have finally given eager fans a deeper look into the movie's dark, disturbing and revenge-filled plot.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria in pivotal roles. It also features other characters including Sudev Nair as Karmadi, Akshay Oberoi as Tony, Balaji Manohar as Bheera and Darrell D'Silva as Salvador.

As the father, the trailer shows Yash as a rugged and heavy bearded man, a cigarette perpetually in his mouth, who attracts violence as much as he chases it.

Later into the trailer, we meet his character as the son—head trimmed and tattooed, wielding knives for hands, a bloodthirsty and destructive figure who thrives on deadly violence. "It's time. I'm coming!" he screams.

Things get interesting when both his avatars finally come face-to-face, with one choking the other.

Toxic also features a collaboration between Hindi lyricist Raj Shekhar and playback singer and composer Vishal Mishra, with their song Tabaahi which released in July.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India last month, Shekhar stated that "Tabaahi' means destruction... The destruction can also mean the destruction of the ego or self. The end of duality and the creation of one is also explored," further hinting at the nature of Yash's characters in the movie.

The film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam — reinforcing its global ambition. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is set to release in theaters worldwide on August 26.
