Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's 'Thalaivan Thalaivii' Gets A Release Date

Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's upcoming film Thalaivan Thalaivii will be released on July 25. The makers of the film made this announcement with a quirky teaser, introducing us to the world of Hotel Raghavarthini, a food joint where much of the film takes place.

Written and directed by filmmaker Pandiraaj, the film revolves mainly around Aakasaveeran (Vijay Sethupathi) and Perarasi (Nithya Menen), who seem to run the hotel. "If you come to Ragavarthini tiffin centre, you can eat to your heart's content. Will you come?" asks Sethupathi's character as the teaser ends.

The other cast of the film includes Yogi Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Saravanan, RK Suresh, Kaali Venkat, Aruldoss, Roshni Haripriyan, Muthu Kumar, Deepa, and Sendrayan, among others.

Produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films, Thalaivan Thalaivii has music by Santhosh Narayanan, camerawork by M Sukumar and editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Sethupathi and Menen were last seen together in Indhu VS's Malayalam film 19(1)(a) (2022).

Sethupathi, who was last seen in Ace (2025), will next be seen in Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming film alongside Tabu. Backed by Puri Jagannadh and producer Charmme Kaur under their banner Puri Connects, the film promises a high-octane narrative with a strong ensemble and production scale. Sethupathi, widely regarded for his transformative performances, will be seen in what the makers describe as a “never-before-seen” role, with Jagannadh penning the script himself.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be released in five Indian languages — Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi — and is scheduled to begin shooting in June. While further details on the plot remain under wraps, the production team has indicated that additional casting announcements will follow soon.

Menen, who was last seen alongside Ravi Mohan in Kadhalikka Neramillai (2025), will next be seen with Dhanush in the Tamil film Idly Kadai.
