The project, produced by Shanthi Talkies, marks the feature debut of Bodi Rajkumar and the third production venture for the banner behind 'Maaveeran' and '3 BHK'.
The makers of actor Vikram’s next film have officially announced that debutant director Bodi Rajkumar will helm the project. Tentatively titled Chiyaan 63, the film will be backed by Shanthi Talkies, one of the fastest-rising production banners in Tamil cinema.
Originally announced in December 2024 with Madonne Ashwin attached to direct, the project has since undergone a creative shift, now placing the spotlight on a fresh directorial voice. For Bodi Rajkumar, Chiyaan 63 marks his first full-length feature after earning acclaim on the short film circuit. His short film Amen won Best Short Film at the Independent Film Festival of Chennai 2021, while Lo and Behold received the Best Indie Short award at the Venice Shorts Festival the same year.
The decision to bring in Bodi is seen as an exciting move, signalling Vikram’s continued commitment to working with emerging filmmakers. Known for his willingness to experiment across genres and storytelling styles — from Iru Mugan to Mahaan and Ponniyin Selvan — the National Award-winning actor appears set to explore a new creative wavelength with Chiyaan 63.
The film is being produced by Arun Viswa for Shanthi Talkies. This will be the banner’s third production venture, following Sri Ganesh’s 3 BHK, starring Siddharth, Sarathkumar, Devayani, Meetha Raghunath, and Chaithra Achar, and their debut production, Madonne Ashwin’s Maaveeran, headlined by Sivakarthikeyan and Aditi Shankar. Both films were noted for blending commercial appeal with strong writing, a sensibility expected to carry over into Chiyaan 63.
While further details regarding the film’s genre, cast, and technical crew are yet to be announced, production is expected to commence in early 2026. Industry speculation suggests that the film may feature a blend of intense action and emotional drama, hallmarks of Vikram’s best-loved performances.
Vikram was last seen in SU Arun Kumar’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, a thriller released on March 27, which followed a man caught in a high-stakes power struggle while trying to protect his family.
