'Vrusshabha' Teaser: Mohanlal is King In Epic Fantasy Drama
Billed as a pan-India film, 'Vrusshabha' was shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, and will be dubbed in Hindi and Kannada.
This Diwali in cinemas, an icon will turn king. The makers of Vrusshabha have dropped a special teaser of the upcoming period fantasy action drama, headlined by Mohanlal and directed by Nanda Kishore. Billed as a pan-India film, Vrusshabha was shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, and will be dubbed in Hindi and Kannada. The film also stars Samarjit Lankesh and Ragini Dwivedi.
The under-two-minute-long visual unit gives a glimpse into the world of the epic, as it teases the kingdom, fierce sword-battle sequences and reveals Mohanlal as the titular king. "When destiny calls, blood must answer," the teaser says as Mohanlal slashes enemies, finally unveiling his entire look.
Vrusshabha is jointly produced by Connekkt Media and Balaji Telefilms, in association with Abishek S Vyas Studios. The film is gearing up for a grand release during Diwali as the makers have zeroed in on October 16 as the release date.
Kishore has previously directed Kannada films like Victory (2013), Adyaksha (2014), and Kichcha Sudeep, Prakash Raj-starrer Ranna (2015). His last release was the 2021 action drama Pogaru starring Dhruva Sarja and Rashmika Mandanna. After the release of the film, Kishore began work on Vrusshabha.
The upcoming feature went on floors in July 2023, with shooting timelines spread out till February of this year. Three months later, on Mohanlal's birthday, the makers dropped the first look from the film with the tagline- "Reborn love: A love so strong, it defies death."
Vrusshabha is likely to be the last release of the year for Mohanlal, who had a fantastic 2025 so far. The actor began the year with two blockbusters: L2: Empuraan and Thudarum, which scripted history at the box office. He was then seen in a special appearance in the Telugu film Kannappa, followed by the well-received Malayalam comedy drama Hridayapoorvam, co-starring Malavika Mohanan.
