Soori headlines a coastal Tamil Nadu sports drama, Anand Deverakonda stars in the a Telugu romantic drama, and Parvathy Thiruvothu leads a new Malayalam crime thriller, Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar. Here's what's releasing in theatres this week:
Hindi
Directed by Priyadarshan, this crime thriller is a remake of his own 2016 Malayalam box-office hit Oppam, which starred superstar Mohanlal. Saif Ali Khan plays a visually impaired man who becomes the target of a killer, played by Akshay Kumar, while trying to protect a young girl. Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher round out the cast, with Mohanlal appearing in a cameo. Produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, Haiwaan marks Saif and Akshay's first film together since Tashan, which released in 2008.
Haiwaan comes to screens on September 11.

Karthi returns to screens with Sardar 2, the highly-awaited sequel to his 2002 blockbuster Sardar. Directed by P.S. Mithran, this spy-thriller sees Karthi reprising a dual role as Agent Sardar Chandra Bose and Vijay Prakash, and unfolds across two timelines set decades apart. SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan also feature. Sam C.S. composes the music, marking his 100th film as a composer.
Sardar 2 comes to theatres on September 10.
Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, this sports action drama is set along the Tamil Nadu coast and centres on traditional boat racing. Soori plays Muthukaali, and stars alongside Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, and Sathyaraj. G.V. Prakash Kumar composes the music, and the film is produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner, with Vetrimaaran serving as creative producer.
Mandaadi opens in theatres on September 10.
Telugu
Starring Sivaji, Anand Deverakonda, and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Epic is an upcoming romantic drama directed by Aditya Haasan. The film follows a student who goes to London for his further studies as he learns to tackle love, identity, relationships and growing up. Written and directed by Aditya Haasan, the film's technical crew includes Hesham Abdul Wahab as the composer, with Azeem Mohammad on cinematography. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners.
This romantic drama releases on September 11.
Malayalam
This crime thriller, directed by Shahad Nilambur, stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Mathew Thomas, Sidharth Bharathan, Unnimaya Prasad and Vijayaraghavan. Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar follows a woman who joins the police force through appointment following her husband's passing. With screenplay by P.S. Subramanian and Vijesh Thottingal, the film is produced by Arjun Selva under the 11 Icons Film Productions banner and is composed by Mujeeb Majeed.
