The director of 'The Revenant' had offered a role to the Malayalam superstar for a Hollywood production.
In an interview with Cue Studio, during the promotions of his upcoming Malayalam comedy Althaf Salim’s Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, Fahadh Faasil revealed that he was approached for a character by the Academy Award-winning director Alexander González Iñárritu. He admitted to auditioning for the role as well, but said that the director wasn’t sure about Fahadh’s accent. The director insisted that he be trained in the US to perfect the accent, but the production was not willing to pay for the training. He was also required to be in the US for four months for the training alone. These are the reasons he cited for not pouncing on the offer.
Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Revathi Pillai, Lal, and Vinay Forrt and the comedy is all set to hit screens on August 29, coinciding with Sathyan Anthikad’s Mohanlal-starrer Hridayapoorvam.
Malayalam producer Listin Stephen recently revealed the remuneration of Fahadh Faasil for his 2011 film Chaappa Kurishu. "Fahadh acted more than anyone sets, including junior artistes (in Chaappa Kurishu), and he was a part of every single department of the film, right from writing, directing, to acting. After I saw him work, I asked him how much I should pay him as salary, and he said he was paid ₹65,000 for the Tournament (2010), the film he had done just before," Listen said in a recent convocation ceremony of the South Indian Film Academy (SIFA) in Kochi.
Talking about Faasil's efforts, Listin said, “Finally, the salary I paid him was ₹1,00,000. Now I’m not sure if we can afford him even if we agree to pay him 100 times or even 500 times that amount. That’s how much he has grown.” And in his reply, Faasil thanked Listin for the faith and the opportunity he had given him during Chaappa Kurishu, despite all those who had advised him not to cast him.
