Actor Dhanush, who was last seen in the Anand L. Rai directorial Tere Ishq Mein, recently took to social media to share his appreciation for the director of his upcoming film Kara, following a private viewing of the project; he referred to Vignesh Raja as a “genius.”
While in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, director Vignesh Raja revealed that Dhanush had watched the film a couple of days earlier. “Immediately after watching the film he called me, and we had a long conversation. He was very happy.” Raja said.
While acknowledging the praise, he mentioned how the Asuran actor brings an energy so unique and intense, that it pushes everyone to elevate their efforts. “I think it comes from a place of his generosity — I’ve always believed film is teamwork,” he noted, further emphasising on how making a film is indeed in his view, a collaborative effort.
He further expressed relief at Dhanush’s response, stating that the film was largely built on the actor’s trust in the material narrated to him. According to Vignesh, a good film comes together only when every element aligns, and the role of a director is to help put all the pieces of the puzzle together into a cohesive whole.
Albeit the early praise, the director refrains from drawing any conclusions ahead of the release, says “It is a bit premature to talk about how the film has turned out because it’s for the audience to decide.”
The film has been directed by Por Thozhil director Vignesh Raja, who has also co-written the film with Alfred Prakash. The duo collaborated on Por Thozhil earlier. The of Kara cinematography is by Theni Eswar, and the film’s music is being scored by GV Prakash Kumar. It is set to release on April 30, 2026.
