Mammootty’s 'Kalamkaval' To Now Release On December 5
According to sources, it was the delayed sale of the film’s OTT rights that created this postponement
Mammootty’s serial killer thriller, directed by first-time director Jithin K Jose, will now release on December 5, after its release got pushed just a week before its original release date of November 27.
According to sources, it was the delayed sale of the film’s OTT rights that created this postponement. Mammootty himself had posted a new poster on his X handle announcing the new release date.
In an exclusive interview with THR India last week, the director had opened up about the viral teaser from the film in which Mammootty is seen playing the role of notorious killer Cyanide Mohan. He said, “Of course, we had written that scene very clearly on paper,” says Jithin, who was in the thick of finishing the last few hours of work on the film’s final sound mix during this interview.
“We had worked a lot on his [Mammootty's] look as well. But on that day, as we narrated the entire sequence and mood of the scene, we still had no idea what Mammukka would give us in terms of an expression. We feel we’ve seen this man do it all before, and then he surprises you with a look that is so perfect for the shot that you couldn't have imagined it.”
The film marks the directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, who wrote the story for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup (2021). The film is co-written by Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar. On the film's technical front, it has cinematography by Faisal Ali, editing by Praveen Prabhakar, music by Mujeeb Majeed, and production design by Shajie Naduvil.
As for Mammootty, he recently completed shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s Patriot, apart from what is rumoured to be a cameo in Chatha Pacha. Mammootty had recently taken a break from acting for around five months, during which time he addressed some health issues.
