The 'Laapataa Ladies' actor goes back in time, drawing from cinema but with a modern eye.
At just 18, Nitanshi Goel has been on several red carpets, starred in a movie that generated Oscars buzz, and won Best Actress at IIFA 2025. Inspired by those who came before her, the actor talks all things fashion in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India.
Edited excerpts from the conversation:

THR India: How would you describe your personal style?
Nitanshi Goel: My style is feminine, rooted in comfort. On workdays, I’m in a simple white kurti because it feels effortless and familiar. But the red carpet is when I enjoy stepping into a dreamier version of myself. I like experimenting with classic gowns or saris that have a touch of modern storytelling.

THR India: Who inspires your style?
NG: I draw a lot from cinema — some days from icons like Audrey Hepburn or Meena Kumari ji. But also, from the textures of Indian fabrics, colours of a street market. Inspiration is everywhere if you keep your eyes open.

THR India: What are the three wardrobe staples you can’t live without?
NG: Well-fitted jeans, classic sneakers and rings or a pair of earrings.

THR India: What’s one piece of fashion advice you’d give?
NG: Always listen to yourself first. Play around with different colours and silhouettes. You don’t have to chase every trend.
