Bhavana Studios has launched Manthrikam, the first song from Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, ahead of its August 21 Onam release. Directed by Gireesh AD, the romance drama stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in a love story between an older man and a younger woman, with music by Vishnu Vijay and vocals by MG Sreekumar underscoring the film’s central musical theme.
Bhavana Studios, makers of Nivin Pauly’s upcoming Onam release, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, have started releasing the film’s promotional content by launching the first song from the film. The song, titled ‘Manthrikam’, means magic.
Directed by Gireesh AD, the song features lighter moments from what appears to be a love story between Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju. The song was posted in a lyrical video, featuring clips and stills from the film. Sung by MG Sreekumar, the music video features sequences in which Nivin Pauly presents Mamitha Baiju’s character with a guitar.
Vishnu Vijay’s composition also features repeated use of the flute, an instrument that is fairly common in the music director’s songs. Mamitha’s character appears to be playing Nivin Pauly’s neighbour in the film. Music too appears to be central to the film’s theme with several visuals of musical instruments, a cassette player and the shot of a group of girls practising dance steps.
In a recent interview promoting the latest Malayalam-language hit film, Balan: The Boy, Gireesh AD, who had acted in the film, shared that Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is about a love story between an older man and a younger woman wherein the age difference becomes a matter of discussion. Gireesh AD has previously directed the blockbuster film Premalu, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju and I Am Kathalan, featuring Sarin Rishi, Lijo Mol Jose and Naslen. This is also Gireesh AD’s second film with Vishnu Vijay after Premalu.
Bethlehem Kuduma Unit, produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran, will release on August 21 for the Onam festival release window. Nivin Pauly was recently seen in B Unnikrishnan’s Prathichaya. Mamitha Baiju’s most recent release was Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, which opened to mixed reviews.
The actress will be also be seen alongside Suriya in Venky Atluri's Vishwanath and Sons. Written and directed by Atluri, the film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya. GV Prakash, with whom Atluri has worked on his previous productions, Lucky Bhaskar and Vaathi/Sir, is behind the music for this upcoming release. Nivin Pauly was recently seen in B Unnikrishnan’s Prathichaya.
