Released originally in 2013, the first Drishyam went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of its time, spawning highly lucrative remakes across multiple Indian and international languages.
Its 2021 sequel debuted directly on streaming during the COVID-19 lockdown, achieving massive digital footprints. Together, the duology established a legacy for tightly constructed narratives and signature third-act twists, which heavily amplified expectations for this final chapter.
The film also has a Hindi remake up for a grand theatrical release later this year. Drishyam 3 in Hindi is headlined by Ajay Devgn and also stars Tabu.
Its predecessor, Drishyam 2 (2022), was a box-office blockbuster in the North, netting ₹240 crore in India and posting a massive worldwide gross of ₹345 crore, cementing itself as one of the earliest post-pandemic turnarounds for the Hindi film industry.
