Actor Namo Narayana shines in 'Jailer 2' as Pazhakkadai Moorthi, earning widespread praise for his comedic timing and pop culture references. Fans are calling for a spin-off or a lead role for Narayana, highlighting his standout performance alongside Rajinikanth in the blockbuster sequel.
While superstar Rajinikanth is winning hearts once again for his blockbuster sequel, Jailer 2, actor Namo Narayana, who plays the hilarious role of Pazhakkadai Moorthi, has stood out as a fan favourite from the sequel.
Narayan's performance as Moorthi has garnered praise and admiration from fans online, with many calling out to director Nelson Dilipkumar to make a film featuring Narayana in the lead, or even a Moorthi spin-off.
Narayana has received audience praise for the laughs and unexpected moments of the film he brought to the film, with many fans pointing to the jokes made on pop culture references by the actor.
Though some of the most anticipated appearances in the sequel included Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi among others, many viewers have taken notice of some of Narayana's scenes in the film, especially a scene with Suraj Venjaramoodu that has become a big talking point.
A fan commented on X that a Nelson-helmed entertainer led by Narayana would work, when films like Dorothy (2026) and Mercury (2018) by Kartik Subbaraj have worked well with audiences. The post read, "If Karthik Subbaraj is making films like Mercury and Dorothy, why can't Nelson make an out-and-out humour film with Namo Narayana in the lead role? Sureshot theatre would go bangers."
Another fan posted that a Moorthi spin-off would work considering how well his performance in the sequel landed. "We deserve a full-fledged MOORTHI spin-off. Thor and Harry Potter references were blastmaxx.”
Narayana's scene with Suraj Venjaramoodu's Dileep, where the two are engaged in a chess match, landed as a huge hit among fans, with one fan praising the scene writing, "What with all that Rajinism throughout the film, another important character is this Pazhakkadai Moorthy. Nelson’s dark comedy works brilliantly with this character."
Narayana, primarily a Tamil film actor, worked as a software engineer before beginning his career in acting with a supporting role in Samuthirakani's Naadodigal in 2009. The two have collaborated on many more projects since then, on films such as Easan (2010), Poraali (2011), Kutti Puli (2013) and Nimirndhu Nil (2014).
Since his on-screen debut, Naryana has worked on over 70 films over the last 17 years. Before Jailer 2, Narayana has most recently been seen in RJ Balaji and Suriya's Karuppu (2026) and Lucky the Superstar (2026).
