Suriya's 47th film, the Tamil action comedy tentatively titled Suriya 47, has wrapped filming. The makers confirmed the wrap on July 16 through a brief video that took viewers behind the scenes of the production. The video, posted by Suriya’s production banner Zhagaram Studios, features director Jithu Madhavan, Suriya and co-star Nazriya Nazim Fahadh on set. Also briefly featured in the video is Naslen, who plays a pivotal role in the film, though the makers kept his look under wraps.
The video also introduces the film's background theme, I Am the One, composed by Sushin Shyam. No official title for the film has been announced yet.
Suriya 47 is described as an action comedy centred on a police officer with a quirky personality and his team of similarly unconventional individuals. Their lives are disrupted when they are assigned a new mission. Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen star in this cop drama alongside Suriya. The film is directed by Jithu Madhavan, known for Aavesham (2024) and Romancham (2023) , and marks his first Tamil production. The film's writing has been credited to Jithu Madhavan and Dravid Selvam. Under the Zhagaram Studios banner, the film is produced by Jyotika and Suriya, alongside co-producer Rajsekar Pandian. The technical crew includes cinematographer Unni Palode and action director Chethan D'souza.
Suriya 47 is one of three upcoming projects in Suriya's pipeline. His next theatrical release will be Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri and co-starring Mamitha Baiju, Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon, scheduled for August 14, 2026. Beyond Suriya 47, the actor has also announced his next collaboration with director TJ Gnanavel, the director of Jai Bhim (2021), which will be produced by Hombale Films. The actor's most recent theatrical release was Karuppu, a fantasy action drama directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha Krishnan.
