Production on Jeethu Joseph’s long-delayed Malayalam action thriller Ram, starring Mohanlal, has finally resumed in Kochi after more than six years since production first began. Actor Priyamani announced she has joined the ensemble cast, reuniting with Mohanlal and Joseph after Neru. Most of the film was already shot across the UK and Morocco, but financial hurdles and injuries had stalled progress for years.
Production has resumed for the Jeethu Joseph directorial Ram, the Malayalam action thriller starring Mohanlal, since it first began production over six years ago. Additionally, Priyamani has revealed through a post on Instagram that she has joined the film's cast, reuniting with both Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph following their 2023 film Neru. The new shoot is taking place in Kochi.
Starring Mohanlal in the lead, the upcoming Malayalam thriller also stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrajith Sukumaran, Adil Hussain, Siddique, Durga Krishna and Saikumar. Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, the action thriller is produced by Ramesh P Pillai and Sudhan Sundaram.
In an interview with THR India, filmmaker Jeethu Joseph admitted that he was also revising the script after six years, before they went into production again. "I wanted to make some changes in the script if possible," he said, noting that the landscape of Malayalam cinema had changed considerably since Ram was first conceptualised.
"Six years ago, films were completely different compared to now. Even bigger films have been released in Malayalam since, with great visuals." He added that the producers have invested a substantial amount of money in the project, which makes the continued uncertainty around it all the more difficult. "It's a constant worry in the background," he said, "because the producers have invested a lot of money, but there are some challenges that cannot be disclosed.”
