Spider-Man: Brand New Day has rewritten box-office history in India, shattering records since its debut last Thursday. The Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures feature grossed ₹309.4 crore across its four-day extended opening weekend, becoming the fastest Hollywood film ever to cross the ₹300 crore mark in the country.
Led by Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Brand New Day launched across more than 5,000 screens in India, a day ahead of its U.S. premiere. Backed by strong word-of-mouth, the superhero tentpole opened to a massive ₹73 crore gross on Thursday. It followed up with ₹58.4 crore on Friday, surged to ₹85 crore on Saturday, and peaked with a staggering ₹93 crore gross on Sunday.
With its historic ₹309.4 crore Thursday–Sunday tally, the blockbuster now stands as the sixth highest opening weekend of all time at the Indian box-office across both domestic and international releases. The total India gross of the film after five days stands at over ₹335 crore.
The blockbuster has now achieved several historic milestones, including the highest opening weekend for any Hollywood release in India, ranking among the top 10 biggest opening weekends in Indian box-office history (across Hollywood and Indian cinema) and the second biggest opening weekend of 2026 released in India.
Released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, the film continues to run to packed houses and high occupancy across both standard and premium formats.
Since the reviews and audience reception is positive, the film could go on to eclipse the lifetime earnings of Avatar: The Way of Water (₹477.50 crore gross and ₹378 crore net) to emerge as the highest-grossing non-Indian film in Indian box-office history, while setting a new precedent as the first foreign title to cross the ₹500 crore benchmark.
In India, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will enjoy a clear run, with no major films scheduled to challenge its dominance. Its only notable holdover competition was Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
