'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Box-Office: Tom Holland Film Dethrones 'Avengers: Endgame' in India

There is a new record holder for Hollywood films in India. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has dethroned the long-standing Day 1 milestone of Avengers: Endgame (2019) to deliver the biggest opening day in India of all time for a non-Indian release.

The Tom Holland starrer opened across 17,250 shows in India on Thursday and recorded a net collection of ₹60.60 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

With the record-shattering opening, Spider-Man: Brand New Day comfortably surpassed the Day 1 figures of Avengers: Endgame (₹53.10 crore nett), widely regarded as the single biggest cinematic event in modern box-office history.

Internationally, the blockbuster has clocked a staggering ₹1,000 crore gross worldwide, underscoring the character's massive global pull.

In India, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will enjoy a clear run, with no major films scheduled to challenge its dominance. Its only notable holdover competition comes from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which currently reigns as the year’s highest-grossing Hollywood release in the country.

In terms of other records, the film is also set to deliver the highest opening weekend for any Hollywood release in Indian history. Supported by a four-day extended weekend beginning Thursday, July 30, Brand New Day is projected to clear ₹225 crore gross, comfortably pacing ahead of Endgame’s ₹187 crore gross three-day weekend benchmark.

Beyond its opening weekend, two monumental box-office milestones remain firmly within the film’s sight: the highest first-week collection for a non-Indian release and becoming the first Hollywood film to enter the ₹500 crore gross club in India.

Avengers: Endgame currently holds the first-week gross record at ₹315 crore (around ₹260 crore net) — a figure Spider-Man: Brand New Day could comfortably surpass.

Since the reviews and audience reception is positive, the film could go on to eclipse the lifetime earnings of Avatar: The Way of Water (₹477.50 crore gross and ₹378 crore net) to emerge as the highest-grossing non-Indian film in Indian box-office history, while setting a new precedent as the first foreign title to cross the ₹500 crore benchmark.
