Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is poised for a mammoth global opening, with advance sales signalling a debut above ₹100 crore gross. The gangster drama, shot in Kannada and English with multiple dubbed versions, is seeing exceptional traction in North Indian multiplexes, where Hindi opening-day estimates of ₹35–40 crore could set a new record for an original South film.
Four years after the historic rampage of K.G.F: Chapter 2, superstar Yash is eyeing to redefine box-office benchmarks once again. Pre-sales for Geetu Mohandas’ gangster epic Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups indicate a massive worldwide opening day, significantly outperforming early trade predictions.
The film is demonstrating unprecedented traction across multiplex chains. Initial tracking projects an opening-day Hindi net collection in the ₹35 crore — ₹40 crore range — putting Toxic on track to record the highest opening day ever for an original south film in the Hindi market.
The film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
Driven by strong home-state dominance in Karnataka and huge pre-sales in Hindi, the action drama is eyeing a global debut of over ₹100 crore gross. Toxic: A Fairy-Tale for Grown-Ups also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has accumulated ₹32.52 crore gross in domestic pre-sales (inclusive of blocked seats), driven by over 6 lakh tickets sold across India in all languages. Excluding blocked seats, actual advance collections stand at ₹23.91 crore gross — a figure set to climb steeply over the final 48-hour window before Toxic releases on August 26, Wednesday.
The film's performance in the Hindi belt is proving particularly formidable. Toxic is currently pacing to deliver the strongest pre-sales for any release in the last two years, trailing only Dhurandhar 2 among recent films.
Trade analyst Nishit Shaw reports that the Hindi version alone has breached the 1,00,000 ticket mark across top national cinema chains (PVR, Inox, Cinepolis). That trajectory puts it on track to eclipse the pre-sale record of Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, which closed its advance run at approximately 1,25,000 tickets in national multiplexes.
Every film sitting ahead of Toxic on the all-time national chain pre-sales chart belongs to an established mega-franchise, including Pushpa 2: The Rule (over 4,00,000 tickets), K.G.F: Chapter 2 (over 5,00,000 tickets), and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (nearly 6,50,000 tickets).
