Yash On 'Toxic': 'This Film Happened Because Successful People Kept Their Egos Aside'

On August 8, at the trailer launch event for Geetu Mohandas' gangster drama Toxic in Bangalore, actor Yash opened up about the film, the dedication of the team that worked alongside him on this massive project, and what he feels has truly brought Toxic to life.

"I believe in one thing, now it is no more Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, this is an Indian film," the actor remarked, creating a strong impression not only about the film but also feeding into the pressing conversation about Indian cinema being boxed into regional categories.

Met with a loud applause from the audience, he added "This is the right example to see talented people from their respective industry."

Yash then said something remarkably humbling coming from a star as celebrated as him. "This movie is not Yash's film, this is an Indian film," he said.

The actor went on to make a bold statement: "Every actor is selfish. That's the fact," he says. According to him, everyone wants to be the best at what they're doing, and that there are countless moments where, as an actor, you feel uncomfortable and even insecure working alongside such a huge cast.

But, this is exactly why Toxic hits different, he feels. "This film has happened because all these lovely, talented, successful people have kept their egos aside," says Yash.

"They have just come with one cause to put Indian film on a global platform."
