Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar has stormed back into the spotlight with Good Bad Ugly, which opened to an impressive ₹28.50 crore on its first day at the domestic box-office. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film is an action entertainer that seems to have struck the right chord with the actor's devoted fanbase—particularly after his previous release Vidaamuyarchi failed to ignite the same enthusiasm earlier this year.

According to early trade estimates from Sacnilk, the film registered a strong average occupancy of 76 per cent across theatres on Thursday, with some urban centres in Tamil Nadu—such as Chennai and Coimbatore—clocking in over 95 per cent occupancy during evening shows. This robust opening not only reaffirms Ajith’s enduring box-office clout but also marks his best opening day collection to date, surpassing his record held by Valimai (₹28 crore on Day 1 in 2022).

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with T-Series Films, Good Bad Ugly pairs Ajith with a dynamic supporting cast that includes Trisha, Arjun Das, Prasanna, Priya Prakash Varrier and others. The film is centred on a reformed gangster navigating the murky waters of his past—but Ravichandran updates this formula with a visually stylish, almost irreverent approach that celebrates Ajith’s screen persona.

Early audience feedback and critical reception have been largely positive, with fans applauding the film’s balance of action and humour.

Given the actor's significant international following, Good Bad Ugly is expected to post strong numbers overseas as well, with complete day-one global figures anticipated soon. With this roaring start, the film now positions itself as one of the top Tamil openers in recent memory.
