Alia Bhatt Honoured with Golden Globes Horizon Award at Red Sea Film Festival

Alongside Bhatt, Tunisian-Egyptian actor Hend Sabry was conferred the Omir Sharif Award as part of the sidebar.

Indian actor Alia Bhatt has been felicitated with the special Golden Globes Horizon Award at the 5th Red Sea Film Festival. The award, instituted in partnership with the Golden Globes and presented on the sidelines of the festival, recognises notable artists from Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Tunisian-Egyptian actor Hend Sabry was conferred the Omir Sharif Award alongside Bhatt as part of the sidebar. Filmmakers Sean Baker and Darren Aronofsky, actors Signourney Weaver and Idris Elba as well qs Riz Ahmed and Salman Khan attended the event.

On Instagram, the Red Sea Film Festival congratulated Bhatt and Sabry, writing, “We were proud to partner with the Golden Globes®️ to honor Hend Sabry and Alia Bhatt with the Omar Sharif Award and the Golden Globes Horizon Award, respectively, on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival. These awards honor the contributions of creative individuals throughout the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.”

The festival also held a celebratory retrospective of Bhatt’s work, revisiting milestone films of her career like Dear Zindagi, Highway, Gangubai Kathaiwadi and others. Bhatt attended the festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, engaging a one-hour conversation discussing her journey.

"The Golden Globes are an iconic part of the global awards universe and I am delighted to be part of it and look forward to continuing my career in storytelling,” Bhatt was quoted as saying by Variety.

On the film front, Bhatt is gearing up for the release of her big-scale spy actioner Alpha. The film is the first standalone female-led entry in the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe. Co-starring Sharvari, Alpha was postponed from its initial release date December 25, 2025 owing to pending VFX work. The film will now arrive in cinemas worldwide on April 17, 2026.

Bhatt will also be seen in next year's Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
