Director Tharun Moorthy is back with Mohanlal in his newest project titled ‘Athimanoharam’, following last year’s success with the Malayalam crime-thriller Thudarum. The film's title was announced earlier this morning, with a new poster featuring Mohanlal resuming the look of a cop after a long break. The veteran actor is seen standing amidst a group of devotees on the Sabarimala pilgrimage.
The upcoming film is produced by Ashiq Usman, who has also produced Anjaam Pathiraa starring Kunchacko Boban, and has been scripted by Ratheesh Ravi, known for Ishq (2019) and Alappuzha Gymkhana (2025).
Athimanoharam also stars Meera Jasmine, who was last seen in Test, a Netflix-original Tamil film. In her next, she plays the character of Naisy, the wife of Mohanlal's Lovelajan.
The film also has a strong technical crew, a lot of whom have worked with Mohanlal and Tharun on Thudarum. This includes Shaji Kumar, who handles the cinematography, music director Jake Bejoy, and sound designer Vishnu Govind. The screenplay is by Ratheesh Ravi, while Vivek Harshan handles editing.
The team also includes Binu Pappu as associate director, Vishnu Govind for sound design, Gokul Das as art director, and Mashar Hamsa handling costumes, with Ronex Xavier handling makeup.
In a previous poster released from the film, Mohanlal was seen in a homely environment in the uniform of a cop, with a peak into his character, ‘Lovelajan’, along with the tentative title ‘L366’. He was seen sporting his signature handlebar moustache for the first time since the 2018 film Odiyan.
Mohanlal has several major projects releasing in the next one month. First up is Patriot, which brings back the Mohanlal-Mammootty duo after a long gap post their collaboration on Twenty:20 in 2008. It will soon be followed by Drishyam 3, the third film in the popular drama-thriller series, which is set to release on May 21, coinciding with the actors’ birthday. The actor is also part of Jude Anthany Joseph’s Thudakkam, set to release on Onam and which stars his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal - marking her debut into the industry.
