'Badlapur 2', 'Shiddat 2', 'Thama': Prime Video-Maddock Films Announce Post-Theatrical Slate of Eight Titles
The collaboration also includes filmmaker Sriram Raghavan-directed 'Ikkis', starring Agastya Nanda.
Prime Video on Thursday (August 21) announced a multi-year licensing collaboration with Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, securing worldwide-exclusive streaming rights to eight of its highly-anticipated films premiering theatrically between 2025 and 2027.
The films will include the upcoming rom-com Param Sundari, headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-led Thama from the horror-comedy universe, as well as franchise offerings like Shiddat 2 and Badlapur 2, which have been officially announced on Thursday.
While Badlapur starred Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, there are no updates as yet on the cast of the sequel, or if it will be directed by Sriram Raghavan. However, another Raghavan directorial will be part of the licensing collaboration: Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda.
Prime Video and Maddock Films have previously collaborated on popular titles like the Stree franchise, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon-starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Bhool Chuk Maaf and the series Jee Karda, which starred Tamannaah Bhatia, Suhail Nayyar, Aashim Gulati, and Anya Singh.
Dinesh Vijan, CEO & founder, Maddock Films, said the team has always believed in telling stories that "surprise, entertain, and resonate." Vijan said the strategic long-term post-theatrical licensing deal is a "natural extension" of their shared vision: to take Indian storytelling to a truly global stage.
"We’re excited that these films will now continue their journey beyond theatres on Prime Video, reaching an even wider audience across the world," the producer said.
Manish Menghani, director & head of content licensing, Prime Video, India, said the multi-film slate not only builds on the unique and wildly popular horror-comedy universe and franchise sequels but also brings in a "distinctive blend of creative originality and fresh storytelling that is synonymous with Maddock."
Maddock is currently gearing up for the release of Param Sundari, which is scheduled to open on August 29. It will be followed by the grand Diwali offering Thama, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and also starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik and Geeta Agrawal Sharma. The film is part of Maddock's ambitious horror-comedy universe.
