Also featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal, 'Thama' will arrive in cinemas this Deepavali
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna step into the darkness in the intriguing teaser for Thama. Billed as the first love story in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe — and a ‘bloody’ one at that — the upcoming film is a vampire-themed saga spanning a century. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik and Geeta Agrawal Sharma.
The teaser kicks off by introducing the eternal romance between Khurrana and Mandanna’s characters. Bats, beasts, bears, ancient rituals, dense forests and blood-stained eyes soon take over the screen in a darkly seductive spectacle. While Khurrana plays a ‘saviour’ named Alok, Siddiqui unsettles as the scary/funny monster of the piece.
“Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY! Brace yourself this Diwali to witness the first love story in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. Step into the World of Thama, a cinematic experience unlike anything you've seen before, storming into cinemas worldwide. #Thama Teaser Out Now!,” Maddock Films wrote on Instagram, sharing the video asset.
Promising a wild and unrelenting ride, Thama is slated for release in theatres this Diwali. According to reports, Varun Dhawan will make a cameo appearance in the film as his character from Bhediya. Furthermore, Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi are said to have a dance-off in Thama.
Maddock Films had earlier disclosed its ambitious pipeline for the Horror Comedy universe. The slate includes sequels such as Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 3, Varun Dhawan's Bhediya 2, as well as Mahamunjya, the second instalment of last year's surprise hit Munjya, starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari.
The horror-comedy universe will culminate in an Avengers: Endgame-like finale, with a two-part epic multiverse showdown titled Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh. The slate also includes two new originals, Shakti Shalini, set to release on December 31 this year, and Chamunda, which will hit the screens on December 4, 2026.
