A celebration of talent and empowerment, The Hollywood Reporter India recently hosted its inaugural red-carpet gala, honouring the remarkable contributions of women in entertainment. The event brought together a constellation of stars from across the country, each embodying the spirit of innovation and resilience that defines the industry today.​

From filmmakers dismantling long-held stereotypes to executives leading boundary-pushing projects, and actors representing them on screen, the THR India Powerlist celebrates 50 women that are challenging norms and creating compelling narratives that reflect a more inclusive, dynamic future.

“Women in entertainment are not just shaping narratives on screen, they are redefining the foundations of this industry,” said Avarna Jain, Chairperson, RPSG Lifestyle Media as she kicked off the night.

In partnership with Jacob's Creek Unvined, THR India reflected on the evolving landscape of entertainment, where women's voices are not only heard but celebrated. This collaboration highlights the brand's enduring commitment to supporting and empowering women.

The evening was graced by luminaries such as Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar and Sushmita Sen, whose films have set new standards in cinema. Visionary directors like Payal Kapadia, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti were also in attendance, highlighting the pivotal role of women behind the camera.

“I remember more than 50 years ago, I would be the only woman on set,” revealed Zeenat Aman, as she received the Audi Iconic Artist award. “And what is so heartwarming to see is that now in every sphere of filmmaking, of entertainment, there are women who have created their own space.” The actor ended her powerful speech by asking her fellow female actors to ask for pay parity.

Fostering a culture of creativity, empowerment and excellence through their involvement in such events, helmed by initiatives like the "Friends of the Brand" program, Jacob's Creek Unvined continues to support and partner with individuals who embody those powerful values.

In conversation with THR India, actor-producer Jyotika also explained what power means to her. “Power to me is freedom; freedom of choice, freedom of age barriers, freedom of hierarchy. That’s where you [find] gender equality and be powerful. Similarly, for filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, “synergy” and “collaborations” among women is the way forward.
