'DC' Release Postponed; New Release Date Out and 'A' Certification Locked

Sun Pictures, the producers of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s first film as lead DC, has announced the latest release date of the film. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the new release date is now the 7th of August. The action drama was originally meant to be released on July 31. The makers also shared a new poster along with this announcement, in which it was confirmed that the film had received an ‘A’ (adult rating. The film co-stars Wamiqa Gabbi.  

In another post, Sun Pictures also revealed the list of distributors for DC. On X, the official handle posted, “AP & Telangana theatrical distribution by @asiansureshent. Kerala & Karnataka theatrical distribution by @GokulamMovies.” 

The title of the film ‘DC’ is acronym for the two lead characters, Devdas and Chandra, played by Lokesh and Wamiqa respectively.

Speaking about the trailer launch of the film at Cannes, director Lokesh Kanagaraj said, “Everything feels new. I can’t say whether it’s good or bad, but it’s been a nice experience. Being on a different set before moving on to my next film gave me a chance to learn something new. I got to observe how Arun and the others worked, and it was a learning experience,” he said. 

When asked if he would take up acting again, Lokesh had a straightforward response: “I don’t think so.” DC stars Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in key roles. The film is written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sun Pictures. Arun Ranjan has penned the additional screenplay, while dialogues are by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Arun Matheswaran’s previous release Captain Miller won big at the recently announced National Awards, with a special mention for Dhanush's performance in the film. The film received the award for Best Film Promoting National, Social Values and Environmental Values.
