Ranveer Singh, introduced as 'The Wrath of God' in the 'Dhurandhar' trailer, said the team wanted to mount a film that is 'unapologetically Indian.'
"If you are done playing with your firecracker, it's time for me to blow this whole place up," declares Ranveer Singh in the explosive trailer of his latest Dhurandhar. Also starring Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, the film has been written and directed by Aditya Dhar, who made a blockbuster debut in 2019 with Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The cast and crew of the film launched the trailer at a grand event in Mumbai's Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in the presence of fans. The film is backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
According to the makers, the action thriller is based on the "incredible true-life events", featuring "pulse-pounding look into the high-stakes world of covert operatives, where every decision is a matter of life and death, and the battle for the nation is fought in the shadows."
Also starring debutant Sara Arjun, the Dhurandhar trailer runs over four minutes, setting itself up like a character introduction as it glimpses its violent, but always uber-stylish world.
Calling Dhurandhar a "raw, visceral truth pulled from a deeply personal core," Dhar said the film is a tribute to the silent architects—men and women whose monumental work never makes the headlines.
"My lens on 'national duty' rejects easy jingoism; it's about honouring the grit, the pain, and the real sacrifice of service. I am relentlessly drawn to India, a nation of endless, inspiring complexity—its culture, its contradictions, and the profound sense of duty that pulses beneath it all. This project is the most challenging, ambitious, and personal film of my career," Dhar said.
Singh, introduced as 'The Wrath of God' in the trailer, said the team wanted to mount a film that is "unapologetically Indian", with Dhar telling an incredible and complex story, with "world-class technical execution and intense performances."
"We wanted to make an unapologetically Indian film that gets counted amongst the most elite instalments in this genre worldwide. I believe it is India’s moment to shine on the global stage. We aim to be at the heart of that moment and that phenomenon whilst honouring and staying true to our roots," Singh added.
Jyoti Deshpande, Producer & President of Jio Studios, RIL said the film promises to "change the order of storytelling" and added that it tells a "profoundly important story from India to the world". While producer Lokesh Dhar said the team built an international production with an "Indian heart".
"To deliver this level of authenticity and visceral impact, we have gone to extreme lengths. Every single frame, location, and set piece is designed to bring a serious, undeniable heft to the action-thriller genre," Lokesh Dhar added.
