Pradeep Ranganathan's last three films as hero have all earned more than ₹100 crore at the box-office.
Actor-Director Pradeep Ranganathan scored his third consecutive superhit with Dude. After Love Today and Dragon, Dude too has crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the box-office, a rare feat for a newcomer. Ranganathan also directed his first hit as actor, Love Today, apart from making Comali, another hit starring Ravi Mohan.
In a video message, he thanked his viewers for the support and love for this rare honour. He went to express gratitude for considering him as a member of the viewers’ family.
Dude, starring Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in lead roles, alongside R. Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon and Rohini, follows two youngsters who run an event management company in Chennai. Directed by Keerthiswaran, Dude dominated the holiday period with solid collections across the board. The romantic action comedy maintained a double-digit figure after debuting with nearly ₹10 crore on its first day. The film was released alongside Bison, a gritty sports drama directed by Mari Selvaraj and starring Dhruv Vikram.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ranganathan had spoken about his salary as an actor.
“Payments are generally decided based on how much the film will be sold digitally, on satellite and theatres. A producer will be getting a minimum amount that is not based on whether the film is a hit or not. In this amount, I’ll look at how much I can ask for. While doing this, we also make sure the producer is not at risk. If they get profit, it is a bonus for them.”
Pradeep Ranganathan's next release is LIK (Love Insurance Kompany), directed by Vignesh Shivan. The film was originally slated to release in tandem with Dude, thus clashing with its own hero's film. However, the film was pushed and will now release on December 18, 2025. "Like two trains on the same track, a head-on collision helps no one," the makers had stated.
