Sundeep Kishan stars in one of the most highly anticipated Tamil films of the year. Sigma, which will be led by the actor, also marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, the son of Tamil star and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The film, which will be out in theatres in July, will also mark Sundeep's second release this year following Super Subbu, the Netflix Telugu original in which he will play a sex ed teacher.
While sharing exclusive glimpses of the unreleased trailer, Sundeep discusses the scale and grandeur of the big-budget action drama, calling it his biggest commercial outing to date. He adds, “We are very excited about it, and we’re also very aware of the hype and expectations surrounding it. At this moment, Sigma feels more like a cultural experience than a film. Sanjay has made a very cool film that’s also a lot of fun. It’s a film that will connect with children as much as it will connect with the older lot. I’m sure it will be a very special film. It’s come out really well, and it looks huge.”
Sundeep has previously acted in Tamil hits such as Maanagaram, Raayan and Captain Miller. Sigma is set across countries, drawing on elements from the world of gambling and racing.
The film’s music is by Thaman S, and it is produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions. The poster features Sundeep as an injured lead character holding onto a large bundle of US dollars as it burns. Elephant tusks can be seen in the background, too.
In an earlier interview with THR India, the film’s star Sundeep had spoken about working with Jason Sanjay for his debut. He had said, “So I had met Vijay sir during the pooja of Leo, and he mentioned that his son was going to debut as a director, and added that Jason Sanjay really likes my work a lot. Lokesh laughed it off, saying that Vijay sir was just being nice to me. But then, just a few months later, I got a call about Sanjay wanting to narrate his story to me. It was a real surprise, but then Sanjay came down to Hyderabad and gave me a kick-ass narration that lasted for almost two and a half hours! I said yes immediately.”
