After a historic night at the 98th Academy Awards, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another emerged as the top winner with Best Picture and five other awards, while Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley took home the top acting honours for Sinners and Hamnet, respectively. As fans look to catch up on the winners, many of these titles are already available on major streaming platforms in India.

Weapons (Disney+ Hotstar)

The film follows a community grappling with the mysterious disappearance of all children from the same class, except one, on the same night at exactly the same time. Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gladys in the film.

K-Pop Demon Hunters (Netflix)

The film follows K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey, who moonlight as demon hunters protecting their fans when they are not selling out stadiums or topping the Billboard charts. It won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden.”

An adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, the film follows Dr. Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist, and the creature he brings to life in a monstrous experiment. It won Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Production Design.

One Battle After Another (Disney+ Hotstar)

A group of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue one of their daughters from an old enemy. The film became the biggest winner of the night, taking home six Oscars: Best Casting, Best Supporting Actor (Sean Penn), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Director (Paul Thomas Anderson), and Best Picture.

Two People Exchanging Saliva (YouTube, The New Yorker)

Winner of Best Live Action Short Film, the story is set in a society where kissing is punishable by death and people pay for things by receiving slaps to the face. It follows Angine, an unhappy woman who becomes fascinated by a playful salesgirl at a department store. The two grow close despite the prohibition.
