The teaser of Governor: The Silent Saviour is out, offering a glimpse into a political-economic thriller said to be “inspired by untold historic events.” The film stars Manoj Bajpayee as A. Ramanan, appointed as the Governor of the RBI (here, Rashtriya Bank of India) during the country’s economic crisis in the 1990s. The teaser provides a glimpse into a narrative where Ramanan is tasked with pulling the nation back from the brink of financial collapse while the entire system works against him.

The poster and title were recently revealed earlier this year on Bajpayee's birthday. He was most recently seen in the Netflix comedy-thriller, Inspector Zende, where he played the titular character.

Governor: The Silent Saviour marks the second directorial outing for Chinmay D. Mandlekar, who is also known for his work in Marathi cinema and television. He was recently seen in the 2026 Amazon Original series Daldal, alongside Bhumi Pednekar and Aditya Rawal. The show was adapted from Vish Dhamija’s Bhendi Bazaar.

The cast also includes Adah Sharma, last seen in Anupam Kher’s Tumko Meri Kasam — based on the life of Indira IVF founder Dr. Ajay Murdia — and Aryan Pushkar, who appeared in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, released earlier this year.

The film is rumoured to draw inspiration from S. Venkitaramanan, who served as the RBI Governor during India’s economic crisis in the 1990s. However, such rumours have not been corroborated by the makers yet.

On the technical front, the screenplay has been written by Suvendu Bhatacharjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Vishal Sinha serves as the director of photography, while Meghna Manchanda Sen and Sanjay Sharma handle editing. The film’s music has been composed by Amit Trivedi, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

The film is slated to release in cinemas on June 12, nearly two months after the makers unveiled its first-look poster and title.
