Nani is all set to bring out his brutal side in the trailer for HIT: The Third Case, the latest instalment in Sailesh Kolanu’s crime-thriller franchise. The film, releasing on May 1, sees Nani play Arjun Sarkar, a ruthless cop navigating a maze of violence and vengeance in pursuit of a kidnapped nine-month-old baby.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor had said, “[Police brutality] is not justifiable, no matter what. We might make a film showing our protagonist [in that manner], but it is not justifiable.” S.J. Suryah’s role in Nani's previous outing Saripodhaa Sanivaaram (2024) was also that of a cold-blooded cop, but he was portrayed as a villain, while Nani’s character in HIT 3 is lauded as the hero.

The trailer opens with Arjun declaring, “There are only two ways a criminal should live: inside a 10-foot cell or in a six-foot grave,” setting the tone for the carnage to come. What follows is a gritty, action-heavy montage of decapitations, close combat, and unrelenting chases through Visakhapatnam, where the film is set.

Kolanu’s HIT universe began with The First Case (2020) and continued with The Second Case (2022). While each instalment features a new lead, they share a common thread of dark, cerebral crime storytelling. This time, Srinidhi Shetty (KGF) stars opposite Nani as the female lead.

The film is produced by Prashanti Tipirneni under Wall Poster Cinema, in collaboration with Nani’s own Unanimous Productions. Rumors suggest actor Karthi may appear in a cameo to set up the next film in the franchise.

For Nani, HIT 3 marks a clear departure from his family-friendly roots. After the raw intensity of Dasara and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, this film continues his pivot toward grittier roles. With stylised violence and a high emotional pitch, HIT: The Third Case looks to set the box-office on fire.
