The film’s teaser had received a lot of love for the way it captured Mohanlal reacting to a young Hindi-speaking cinephile
Three days before the release of Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam, the film's producers, Aashirwaad Cinemas, launched a short 110-second trailer, stitched together by using some of the film’s heartwarming moments. It highlights a scene in which Mohanlal’s character uses poetic language to describe the uniquely problematic situation he’s stuck in, though he does not elaborate on what has caused the confusion.
We also see Sangeeth Prathap playing the comedic sidekick, after acting in Mohanlal's blockbuster Thudarum. A shot at the end also reminds one of the famous scene from TP Balagopalan MA, also directed by Sathyan Anthikad.
The plot of the film, according to reports, revolves around Mohanlal’s character having to travel to Pune to attend an engagement function. The engagement is said to be that of Malavika Mohanan’s character, the daughter of the man who donated his heart to Mohanlal before passing away. This is also a play on the film’s title, Hridayapoorvam, which translates to ‘from the heart’. The title is said to have been suggested by Mohanlal during the film’s first schedule.
Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad’s previous film was Ennum Eppozhum, 10 years ago. In a recent interview with THR India, Sangeeth Prathap opened up about his experience of working with the legendary actor-director duo. He said, “Right from his filmmaking style to the way he divides shots, everything is different with Sathyan sir. I feel working on his school of filmmaking has enhanced my understanding of cinema, not just as an actor but also as an editor.”
He explained further, “In the films that I’ve worked on earlier, such as Premalu or Bromance, what we’re acting for is one full scene. We first perform the scene, and then we try to build it up during the shoot based on the flow we achieved after a couple of rehearsals. We finish the scene first, and later get into cut shots or reaction shots.” But with Sathyan Anthikad and team, he acted for one shot at a time. "It didn't have to be in order. We might be shooting the reaction shot first and then we go into the dialogue. We needed to remember our expressions from the previous shot and what we’re going to express next. That should play in the back of your mind. It was super difficult for me at the start, but as the shoot progressed, I was able to break it down".
