After the blockbuster success of her film Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, Kalyani Priyadarshan has signed to do a solo Tamil film, which is to be produced by SR Prabhu for his banner, Potential Studios, in their seventh production. The launch function for the film took place in Chennai on November 19. Their six previous productions include critically acclaimed films such as Maya (2015), Maanagaram (2017), Monster (2019), Taanakkaran (2022), Irugapatru (2023), and Black (2024).
Apart from Kalyani, the film also stars Devadarshini and Vinoth Kishan. It is being directed by first-time director Thiraviyam S.N., with the screenplay being written by Pravin Bhasker and Sree Kumar. Its music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, and cinematography is being handled by Gokul Benoy.
Kalyani’s superhero movie Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra became the first Malayalam film to touch the ₹300 crore mark at the global box office. In late September, the film had become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, surpassing this year’s record set by L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj, starring Mohanlal. This record also made Lokah the second-highest-grossing female-led Indian movie, behind The Kerala Story.
Speaking about the film’s massive success, she had opened up to THR India in an exclusive interview. She said, “The first message he (director Priyadarshan) sent me after everything blew up was, ‘Don’t let success get to your head and don’t let failure get to your heart,’” she shares. “He says it often, but this time he sent it as a reminder, and he keeps reminding me every day. That’s what I hold on to.”
The makers of the film have since posted two new character posters from the series. These new posters feature Michael and Charlie, the two characters played by Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan, respectively. These posters also describe Michael as ‘Chathan’ and Charlie as ‘Odiyan’ in the cinematic universe.
