Following their indelible combination in Mari Selvaraj's Maamannan (2023), where Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil locked horns, the actors are reuniting for Sudheesh Sankar's upcoming film Maareesan. A short teaser of the film was released on Wednesday, featuring the two actors in action.

The teaser, which mostly sees Faasil and Vadivelu travelling by road via bike, teases a road thriller, which also includes a mysterious crime. Co-starring Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P.L Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja, the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who launched the teaser on X.

"The wait is over! Get a glimpse into the world of #Maareesan — a power-packed performance by the dynamic duo Fafa and Vadivelu," the composer wrote on X. The teaser uses the song ‘Aaha Inba Nilaavinile’ from 1957 film Mayabazar in various forms to convey the intriguing tone of the film. Maareesan is produced by Super Good Films.

The producers initially released a poster portraying Faasil and Vadivelu on a motorcycle, building the expectation of a road trip-themed film. But a most recent poster depicts the actors in a dramatic face-off, a sense of which we get in the teaser, too.

Faasil, one of the most in-demand performers in South Indian cinema, was last seen in Vettaiyan (2024) and Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024). His future projects include Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Don't Trouble The Trouble and Karate Chandran, among others. Meanwhile, Vadivelu, the veteran comedian and actor, was last seen in Gangers, directed by Sundar C.
