'Magudam' Teaser: Vishal Takes On Multiple Roles in His Directorial Debut

The teaser of Magudam, starring Vishal, Anjali and Dushara Vijayan, was released by the makers on Thursday. The teaser offers a first look at the film where Vishal plays several characters, appearing as a corporate employee, a gangster and an older assassin. The teaser also includes appearances by Anjali and Dushara Vijayan, who play key roles in the film. Scheduled to arrive in theatres in July, an exact release date for the film has not yet been announced.

Magudam marks Vishal’s directorial debut. The project was initially launched with Ravi Arasu as director before Vishal took over directing duties during production. Ravi Arasu is credited with the film’s story. The cast also includes John Vijay, Ajay, Vamsi Krishna. Music for the film has been composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar, and the film is being produced by Super Good Films as its 99th production venture.

Production on Magudam wrapped up in November 2025. The makers completed filming after a 17-day climax schedule, bringing principal photography to a close ahead of the film’s planned 2026 release.

While there were speculations about a feud between Vishal and Ravi Arasu, it was clarified that Arasu amicably stepped away from the project. FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India) president RK Selvamani informed The Times of India that the issue between the two has been resolved. “There was a misunderstanding between director Ravi Arasu and Vishal. We have spoken to both and helped them reach a mutual understanding. The director himself has agreed to step away from the project...the issue has been amicably resolved,” Selvamani was quoted as saying. 

Vishal was last seen in Madha Gaja Raja. Apart from Magudam, he is also working on Purushan, directed by Sundar C. Which he began shooting for earlier last year while work on Magudam moved into post-production.
