Producer Sandra Thomas has stated that Mammootty had called and asked her to withdraw the case she had filed against the Kerala Film Producers' Association
A day after Sandra Thomas’ nomination was rejected when she applied to stand for the presidential elections as a part of the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA), the producer has spoken up about the challenges she faced since she decided to apply. Her application was rejected because she had produced only two movies under her own banner. Videos of the conflict that took place during the filing had gone viral on social media.
In response to her rejection, Sandra Thomas had taken legal recourse and had also spoken to media.
In one of the interviews, she opened up about how Mammootty had called her up, asking her to withdraw the case she had filed against the Kerala Film Producers Association. In an interview to an YouTube-based news portal, she said, “Mammukka called me and asked me to withdraw the case (against KFPA). We spoke for about 45 minutes... but my response to him was a question: ‘What if the same issue happened to your daughter? Would you have asked her to not take a stand, and warned her that her future would be in jeopardy and that she might not be able to make or release films in the future?’
Mammootty is said to have replied to her, asking her to go ahead with the route she felt was right.
The KFPA’s bylaws require candidates to submit three censor certificates. But Sandra Thomas' application was rejected because only two of her films were produced under her own banner, Sandra Film Productions. The remaining were associated with a previous company she is no longer a part of.
She had produced Little Hearts starring Shane Nigam and Mahima Nambiar last year, apart from 2023’s Nalla Nilavulla Rathri. With her previous production house, Friday Film House, she has produced films such as Friday, Philips And The Monkey Pen, Aadu, among others.
