'Mirage' also stars Aparna Balamurali and is said to be a thriller. Jeethu Joseph and Asif Ali had worked previously in 'Kooman'.
The makers of Jeethu Joseph’s Mirage, headlined by Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali, unveiled the film’s first look on Monday. The upcoming thriller also stars Hakim Shahjahan, Hannah Reji Koshy and Sampath. The makers dropped the poster online, writing, "You kept getting closer. And this time, it didn’t fade."
Mirage is the sixth collaboration between Ali and Balamurali, who were last seen in Kishkinda Kaandam (2024). Joseph directed Ali in Kooman (2022), which was about a police officer who finds himself drawn to committing crimes.
The tagline on Mirage's poster read, "Fades As It Gets Closer", linking the subject to its title. The cinematographer is Satheesh Kurup with V S Vinayak working as the editor and with music by Vishnu Shyam. The film is produced by Mukesh R Mehta, Jatin M Sethi and C V Sarathi.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India about an incident that took place during the shoot of Mirage, Ali had recalled how he went alone to watch the re-release of Interstellar in Coimbatore during the shoot in Coimbatore, where the majority of the film is said to have been shot.

"I got only one ticket and went alone to watch it on IMAX. When I went to get some coffee during the interval, almost the entire theatre recognised me. This has never happened to me outside of Kerala, but I feel it's the difference that has been brought about by my films getting viewed on OTT. When Tamil viewers started talking to me about my movie Level Cross, I felt so happy!”
The actor had recently acted in the musical-comedy Sarkeet and Sarkeet and Abhyanthara Kuttavali. Meanwhile, Joseph is working on Valathu Vashathe Kallan, starring Biju Menon and Joju George in the lead. Apart from this, he will also be starting Drishyam 3, which is scheduled to hit the floors in October.
