According to reports, Ajay Devgn's Hindi adaptation will be shot simultaneously. The first part of Drishyam, released in 2013, chronicled the struggle of Georgekutty and his family, who come under suspicion when the son of an Inspector-General of Police goes missing.

Apart from Mohanlal, the movie featured Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Roshan Basheer and Neeraj Madhav. The primary cast of the film returned for its sequel Drishyam 2, in 2021, which was released on Prime Video due to the pandemic. The success of Drishyam also led to a Hindi remake of the same name, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu. The sequel of the film was released theatrically in 2022.

Mohanlal will next be seen in Vishnu Manchu's Telugu pan-Indian film Kannappa in an important role. In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Manchu spoke about how the actor performed in the film for free. "Both Prabhas and Mohanlal sir did not need any convincing. They were happy to shoot whenever, and they did it out of love for my dad. They did not charge a single penny. They are both so big that they didn’t need to do this character. When I asked Mohanlal sir if I could talk to his manager to discuss financials, he laughed and said, 'So you think you’ve become such a big boy now?' People like him and Prabhas make me believe in the value of friendships," the actor said in the interview.
