In a grand celebration marking actor Prashanth’s 52nd birthday on April 6, 2025, a much-anticipated collaboration was unveiled — Prashanth is teaming up once again with filmmaker Hari for a new film, reuniting a quarter-century after their successful venture Thamizh (2002). The film, tentatively titled Prashanth 55, was officially launched at a special event in Chennai.

The star and the director, who share a long-standing professional bond, reflected on their previous collaboration. Prashanth expressed his optimism for their new project, stating, “I have known Hari sir for 25 years now. We promise to deliver a nice movie that satisfies all expectations. This film will have a fast-paced screenplay, one that will stand the test of time." He further added, “People appreciate Thamizh even after 25 years, and I believe our upcoming film will replicate that.”

At the heart of the film’s production is Prashanth’s father, the veteran actor-producer Thiagarajan, who is stepping in as the producer under his banner, Staar Movies. Thiagarajan’s influence has always been a defining factor in Prashanth’s career, and in his speech, the actor credited his father’s vision, “As you all know, he likes to upscale all his films, and when I asked how we’re going to mount a project that would appeal to the latest generation, he said, ‘Don’t worry, let’s make it as big as we can.’ So I thank him for that."
