With a smashing day one, Pushpa 2 has also become the highest box-office opener for a South Indian dubbed film in Hindi, beating KGF: Chapter 2 (₹ 53 cr) by a huge margin.

Not just in India, Pushpa 2 has also become the highest-grosser on day one of all time with worldwide collection of ₹ 294 cr. The significance of the film's global collection lies in the fact that it has comfortably surpassed the previous record of Baahubali 2 (around ₹ 215 cr on day one) by a huge margin. Armed with positive reception, the film will now charge through the extended weekend, set to put up impressive numbers over the next three days.

The celebrations, however, have been marred by a tragic turn of events after a woman died in a stampede during the premiere of the film, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident occurred when Allu Arjun visited the premises of the theatre on Wednesday (December 4, 2024) night. While the 35-year-old woman died in the incident, her nine-year-old son remains critical and is undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital. The police have now filed a case against the theatre management, Allu Arjun, and his security team.

"We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow," Mythri Movie Makers posted on X.
