Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films, GDN celebrates the life and legacy of inventor and industrialist G.D. Naidu. The film is slated for a Summer 2026 theatrical release.
The first look of GDN, the much-anticipated biopic on visionary industrialist and inventor G.D. Naidu, has been unveiled by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Tricolour Films. The image, featuring R. Madhavan in a striking transformation as Naidu, has already garnered a lot of attention from audiences online, promising another commanding and transformative performance from the actor.
Often hailed as the “Edison of India” and “The Wealth Creator of Coimbatore,” G.D. Naidu’s groundbreaking contributions to science, technology, and public service left a mark on India’s industrial history. His enduring legacy continues to be celebrated — most notably with Tamil Nadu’s longest bridge bearing his name. The timing of the first look’s release on October 26 serves as a fitting homage to his pioneering spirit.
GDN marks the reunion of the National Award-winning teams behind Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, bringing together Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films once again for another biopic. Madhavan will once again be seen portraying a real life visionary.
The film’s cast features an ensemble of actors including Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani, Dushara Vijayan, Thambi Ramaiah, and Vinay Rai. Acclaimed composer Govind Vasantha will helm the historical drama's music.
Written and directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, GDN is being shot entirely in Coimbatore — Naidu’s birthplace — to authentically capture the textures and atmosphere of his era. The film is produced by Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan of Varghese Moolan Pictures, alongside R. Madhavan and Sarita Madhavan of Tricolour Films. Aravind Kamalanathan serves as Cinematographer and Creative Producer, with Muralidaran as Executive Producer.
"We weren’t looking to make a biopic. Mr. Madhavan comes across many stories, and this was one of them — narrated to him by director Krishna. We wanted a strong follow-up, and when this story came along, Madhavan really liked it. We also felt it had the potential to be a great film,” said producer Vijay Moolan in a statement.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in Summer 2026.
