In December last year, Gopalakrishnan had confirmed that his next film would be with the star. He was speaking on the sidelines of a literary event organised in Kerala. He went on to add that he kept thinking of Mammootty as he worked on this script and said he couldn’t picture anyone else in that role. He also said that Mammootty had not only agreed to act in the movie but that he would also produce it under his production company, Mammootty Kampany. He also confirmed that he will honour existing professional obligations. “I still have to finish some pending commitments will finish them. So you might get some releases this year.”

Singer Chinmayi Sripada fired back, writing that the casting couch phenomenon is “rampant”, and that women often lose out on roles if they refuse to concede to such demands. 

“Men remain in positions where they believe they are entitled to, and WILL demand and expect sexual favours from women,” she wrote on X, citing anonymous examples of industry insiders who have been known to harass female talent.

She went on to address Chiranjeevi’s comments directly, explaining that he is accustomed to working in a different era, where the industry treated one another like family.

“Legendary Chiranjeevi garu comes from a generation where they all were friends or even family friends with their female co-artistes, mutually respected each other, worked with legends, and they are all legends themselves,” she added.

Denouncing his comments ‘blaming’ women for their ‘bitter experiences’, the singer ended her response by saying: “Men believing they are OWED sex in return for giving work are the problem.”

When asked about the release dates, Jeethu Joseph told Reporter TV, “There is no confusion any longer. We have decided to release 

 in Malayalam on April 2, and the Hindi version will now release on October 2.”

He spoke to them and told me that Panorama had come forward to buy the films for a price that was truly shocking for Antony.” Reports suggest the amount the film was purchased for stood among the highest in the industry.

On Tuesday (January 27), the Madras High Court set aside a single judge’s order directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to grant a U/A certificate to 

. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G. Arul Murugan remitted the matter to the single judge for fresh consideration, holding that 'principles of natural justice' had not been followed,

On January 9, a single-judge bench of the Madras High Court ruled in favour of the producers and directed the CBFC to certify the film. However, the order was stayed the same day by the division bench following an urgent mention, with the court also criticising the producers for creating undue urgency. The division bench reserved orders on January 20 after hearing detailed arguments from both sides.

In its latest hearing, the division bench ruled that the single judge ought to have allowed the CBFC to respond before passing orders. It directed the court to hear the matter afresh, after allowing the Board to file its response. The court also allowed the film's producer, KVN Productions, to amend its writ petition, specifically to challenge the CBFC Chairperson’s decision to send the film to the revising committee.

, positioned as Vijay’s final film before entering politics full-time, became embroiled in a legal battle after the CBFC delayed issuing its certification. KVN Productions approached the Madras High Court claiming that the Board had indicated the film would receive a U/A certificate subject to certain modifications, which were duly carried out. Yet, the certificate was not issued in time as the film was referred to the revising committee. 

The CBFC informed the court that the decision to refer the film to a revising committee was taken after a complaint from a single member of the examining committee, alleging that objections had been ignored and that certain scenes could hurt religious sentiments and misrepresent the armed forces.

The makers had earlier moved the Supreme Court for urgent intervention in the matter. The apex court, however, asked the 

makers to go to the Madras High Court after refusing a fast-tracked hearing.
